Chemistry Graduate Student Association
Mission and Purpose:
The purpose of CGSA is to connect graduate students with peers, faculty, professionals, alumni, mentees, and communities. By improving connection, our students can develop as scientists, leaders, and mentors in all areas of life. Moreover, CGSA assists chemistry and biochemistry graduate students to have holistic wellness.
Activities:
Monthly activities are all planned to accomplish the following objectives:
- Establishing Connections
- Help all first-year students integrate into the student body
- Aid students to seek mentors in their professional and personal spheres
- Assist students to gain a lasting support network of peers
- Encourage students to become mentors to undergraduate students, voices in community organizations, and leaders in academic and personal fields
- Developing Career & Community Vision & Skills
- Help each student in developing their Individual Development Plan (IDP)
- Support students in experimenting with various leadership and mentoring positions on- and off-campus
- Promote participation in professional and community roles
- Improve students’ ability to communicate science to various audiences
- Supporting Wellness
- Provide exercise-based activities to maintain mental, emotional, social, and physical health
- Provide social gatherings to maintain mental, emotional, and social health
