Living in Utah

Brigham Young University is located in Provo, UT. Provo is located in the Utah Valley area and is the state's third-largest city. Provo has been ranked as one of the "Best Places to Live in America" based on multiple factors. Provo provides students with a safe and family-oriented environment with an abundance of fun cultural and recreational attractions and activities. The cost of living in Provo is considerably lower than other cities. Hospitals are close by, with Utah Valley Medical Center about a mile from BYU campus. Salt Lake City International Airport is only about 50 miles away, and Provo Airport now has daily flights. Utah Transit Authority provides adequate public transportation to and from BYU campus.

Not only Provo, but the entire state provides spectacular mountain views, clear streams, freshwater lakes, colorful deserts, and other scenery of breathtaking beauty. There are an abundant amount of recreational and cultural opportunities, making Utah, Provo, and specifically, BYU, a pleasant and unique place to pursue graduate study.

In addition, International students are often pleasantly surprised by the remarkably friendly atmosphere at BYU and in the surrounding communities. It is also noteworthy that BYU has an exceptionally large number of students who are fluent in second languages. In fact, 75 percent of our students speak a second language.
